WHO ARE WE ?
The International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental federation whose primary mission is to support families through education.
Family enrichment activity began in the mid-sixties with the development of support programmes for parents based on the “case method”. After more than 30 years of experience in running these courses, the International Federation for Family Development was founded in Orlando, Florida. The head office is in Spain, where the first courses began.
IFFD programmes work in 68 countries on 5 continents in collaboration with a vast network of volunteers. IFFD is the largest international civil society organisation dedicated to family development.
IFFD has general consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and regularly organises international congresses on the family.
WHAT ARE OUR GOALS ?
IFFD Canada is a non-profit educational charity that promotes parenting courses for married couples developed by the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) across Canada. Its board members represent the different local steering committees from east to west in order to facilitate communication between the Family Enrichment Centres in the different parts of Canada and to expand to new areas when possible.
IFFD Canada promotes IFFD courses because they offer support to parents by encouraging them to be united in their approach to parenting. The courses encourage parents to understand & appreciate the importance of their married love for the whole family. They also enable parents to identify needs, solve problems and set goals for their family. IFFD courses also provide parents with practical suggestions and ideas for their own family life given by experienced parents.
IFFD Canada encourages all parents to be strong leaders in family life, recognizing that they are the primary educators of their children.
IFFD Canada use a participative methodology based on the Case Study Method. These courses are offered in more than 60 countries around the globe.
